Converse, Texas · September 2026 · 21-panel Enphase system · solar detach and reset for a new roof

A roofing contractor had a re-roof scheduled on a home in Converse and a 21-panel solar array in the way. They sent in a request on a Thursday evening, and we called back the same day. We took the array down Monday morning, the roofer replaced the roof, and the system was back on the new roof Wednesday.

Day 1: taking it down

We shut the system down, disconnected the panels and their Enphase microinverters, and carried all 21 panels off the roof. They waited in the yard, out of the way of the roofer’s ladders and debris.

The rails and roof mounts came off too, so the roofer had a clean deck with nothing to shingle around.

Day 2: putting it back

Once the new shingles were down, we set new flashed mounts into the new roof instead of reusing old holes, so every attachment point is sealed into brand-new shingles.

Then the rails, the microinverters, the wiring and the panels went back, and the system was powered back up.

Why it matters

A detach and reset comes down to two things: not creating a roof leak, and not losing production. New flashing on the new roof takes care of the first; careful reinstallation of every microinverter and panel takes care of the second. The job closed out with our written workmanship warranty.

Questions

How long does a detach and reset take? On this home, one morning to take 21 panels down and one morning to put them back, with the roofer working in between. Bigger arrays or steep roofs take longer.

Who should call you, the homeowner or the roofer? Either. On this job the roofing contractor called us. We work to the roofer’s schedule so the house is without solar for as few days as possible.

Will my solar warranty survive a reset? We reinstall to the manufacturer’s instructions so the equipment warranties stay intact, and the reset comes with our written workmanship warranty.
